Since
the dark ages tribes, chieftains, noblemen and Kings have commemorated important
events by commissioning poets and minstrels to write and perform suitable ballads.
Whether to celebrate a famous victory or to mark the passing of another year,
poetry was the lifeblood of medieval narrative. Today a decent bard is hard
to find, which is why Charlie Ottley has much pleasure in offering his unique
services as resident poet for special occasions, promotions and corporate events.
Charlie,
34,writes and performs comic verse for TV, radio and the national press. He
has been in house poet for the BBC, GMTV,
Meridian Television and The Big Breakfast
appearing on numerous current affairs programmes including The Daily Politics,
The Nicky Campbell Show and Carlton TV's Bulls & Bears. Charlie
first achieved notoriety in 1999 with his cult weekly column The News In Verse
for former Internet giant World Online (now Tiscali). As well as his own routines,
Charlie provides individually crafted poetry to suit any brief. An
experienced after-dinner speaker he combines the traditional poetic form with
a thoroughly modern approach.And
it isn't just a hit with the business world. Each summer he drives up and down
Britain in doublet and hose adding a lyrical touch to wedding speeches and anniversary
parties
.So why not immortalise your big day,
commemorate a new launch or simply spice up the office party with your own resident
bard. Whatever your client's needs, well-written and entertaining poetry is
the original way of telling a story, conveying a message and leaving a lasting
impression on your audience.
